Oral Dentistry Service

In the United States, the American Dental Association (ADA) recognizes nine distinct specialties that encompass various aspects of oral health care. These specialties are orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, which focus on correcting misaligned teeth and jaw structures; pediatric dentistry, dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through adolescence; periodontics, which addresses the prevention and treatment of gum disease; and prosthodontics, specializing in restoring and replacing teeth with prosthetic solutions. Additionally, oral and maxillofacial surgery deals with surgical procedures involving the mouth, jaw, and face; oral and maxillofacial pathology concentrates on diagnosing and managing diseases that affect these areas; and endodontics, which focuses on root canal therapy and issues related to the dental pulp. The ADA also recognizes public health dentistry, aimed at improving dental health at a community or population level, and oral and maxillofacial radiology, which uses imaging technologies to diagnose conditions affecting the head and neck. Together, these specialties reflect the breadth and depth of dental care needed to ensure comprehensive oral health.
