Show Notes

In this week’s episode of The Dental Handoff, Dr. Kelly Tanner welcomes in dental hygienist Samantha VanHoose, RDH! After five years in the dental field working in insurance and assisting, Samantha was finally exactly where I wanted to be, a dental hygienist. Six years later her physical health took a turn that opened a new interest for the importance of ergonomics. Now, in addition to clinical, she finds herself working as a LumaDent rep, fulfilling a passion for helping others maintain their career in dental as I did.

In this discussion, Dr. Kelly and Samantha discuss:

– How Samantha got her start in the dental industry in the office and what inspired her to delve into the clinical end of the practice

– Why hygienists shouldn’t be scared of the word “Sales” and how Samantha overcame her own fears to that end

– How Samantha was able to overcome posture issues she developed by utilizing ergonomic loops in her practice

– The importance of being around the right kind of people who want to come up with solutions together

– How to discern between which sources of information you can trust in the industry

– How you can move mountains to change conditions in an office by surrounding yourselves with the right people who share your philosophy
